THE ASK
"Citizen Rose" is docu-series about Rose McGowan's courageous journey after her Hollywood battles of sexual assault. Rose is a fighter, an artist, and survivor and the promo graphics should reflect her journey looking forward and not backwards. Rose had a very specific orange color and font that she wanted to incorporate into the promo packaging.
THE CHALLENGES
The footage we were working with was all iphone low resolution footage so we needed a way to embrace the low-res look by going for the filmic documentary feel.
SOLVE #1
This option uses close colors to orange to paint a more colorful approach to keep the energy uplifting and positive, while layering some filmic elements.
SOLVE #2
This option uses layers and layers of distorted screen lines, as well as a Rose shaped bokeh to reflect a positive dreamy look.
SOLVE #3
This option has a reflective, nostalgic approach, where we look into her path and experiences to bring out the richness and depth of her experiences.
SOLVE #4
This option has a voyeur feeling of looking into her life as everyone has been observing her actions from the outside. The manipulations of the screen lines will represent how media has manipulated her stories but they will be animating back to straight lines to indicate healing.
THE FINAL
The final package was a simple look with reflective elements and subtle distorted screen lines.
